Learning the Welsh Adverbs displayed below is vital to the language. Welsh adverbs are part of speech. Generally they're words that modify any part of language other than a noun. Adverbs can modify verbs, adjectives (including numbers), clauses, sentences and other adverbs.
While in English adverbs are usually formed by adding (-ly) to adjectives. In Welsh many adverbs are formed from adjectives, simply by placing ‘yn’ before the adjective. Examples:
Araf (slow) becomes ‘yn araf’ (slowly)
Perffaith (perfect) becomes ‘yn berffaith’ (perfectly)
However that’s not always the case. Some words are adverbs by nature. For example:
Nawr (now), yna (then), and toc (soon) are all Welsh adverbs.
*Please note that this ‘yn’ causes a soft mutation of the letters c,p,t,g,b,d,ll,m,rh (namely g,b,d,-,f,dd,l,f,r).
