Learning the Bengali Questions is very important because its structure is used in every day conversation. The more you master it the more you get closer to mastering the Bengali language. But first we need to know what the role of Questions is in the structure of the grammar in Bengali.
Bengali questions may be either a linguistic expression used to make a request for information, or else the request itself made by such an expression. Usually it starts with why, how, where, when ...
In Bengali there are 4 ways of asking a question to get a yes or no answer, and they are the following:
Pronoun should come first, example:
-Pronoun + verb: Only the intonation makes the sentence interrogative: taar hate somoy achhe? (Does he have free time?)
To get a definite answer to a question the pronoun may come before or after the verb. Example
-Verb +...+ pronoun. The pronoun goes last kothay jaben apni? (Where will you go?)
Pronoun+…+ Verb . The pronoun comes first apni kothay jaben? (Where will you go?)
-Finally you can also make a question by adding a tag question to the end of a statement. Apni kothay jaben? kolkatay?
(Where will you go? To kolkata?)
