Learning the Bengali Plural is very important because its structure is used in every day conversation. The more you master it the more you get closer to mastering the Bengali language. But first we need to know what the role of Plural is in the structure of the grammar in Bengali.
Bengali Plurals are grammatical numbers, typically referring to more than one of the referent in the real world. In the English language, singular and plural are the only grammatical numbers.
While in English, the plural is formed by adding (s) to the singular. In Bengali, to form the plural of nouns and adjectives we add (-gulo, -guli, ra, bohu, kichhu, koyek) to words. Or sometimes (anek) is prefixed to the word. Here are some examples:
Ekjon bandhu (one friend), Bandhuguli/ bandhugulo (those friends), anek bandhu (many friends), bandhura (friends)
Eqti nari (one woman) becomes: koyekjon nari (some women)
Eta amar laal gaari (this is my red car) becomes: ei amaar laal gaariguli (these are my red cars)
