Bengali Adverbs
Learning the Bengali Adverbs is very important because its structure is used in every day conversation. The more you master it the more you get closer to mastering the Bengali language. But first we need to know what the role of Adverbs is in the structure of the grammar in Bengali.
Bengali adverbs are part of speech. Generally they're words that modify any part of language other than a noun. Adverbs can modify verbs, adjectives (including numbers), clauses, sentences and other adverbs.
Grammar Tips:
While in English adverbs are usually formed
by adding (-ly) to adjectives. In Bengali many adverbs are formed
from adjectives, simply by adding the prefix to the singular form of adjectives
or by repeating the same adjective or by adding some prefix like (-bhabe,
moto). There is no hard and fast rule in changing an adjective to an adverb.
Adverbs are identified only when they qualify the verbs. Examples:
Dhire (slow) becomes an adverb when we say Dhire
chalo (move slowly)
sathik (perfect) becomes an adverb when we
say sathik bhaabe (perfectly)
However that’s not always the case. Some words are adverbs by nature.
For example: taratari, jore (fast).
Here are some examples:
