Italian Feminine

Learning the Italian Feminine displayed below is vital to the language. Italian feminine refers to female qualities attributed specifically to women and girls or things considered feminine. The complement to feminine is masculine.

Grammar Tips:

To form a feminine word from the masculine in Italian, you simply add (-a) after removing the last vowel. Here are some examples:

Figlio (son) becomes figlia (daughter), alunno (student masc.) becomes alunna (student fem.)

Note that some words cannot change into feminine; instead a whole new word should be used, example: uomo (man), donna (woman).
