To form a feminine word from the masculine in Italian, you simply add (-a) after removing the last vowel. Here are some examples:
Figlio (son) becomes figlia (daughter), alunno (student masc.) becomes alunna (student fem.)
Note that some words cannot change into feminine; instead a whole new word should be used, example: uomo (man), donna (woman).
