Russian Questions

Learning the Russian Questions is very important because its structure is used in every day conversation. The more you master it the more you get closer to mastering the Russian language. But first we need to know what the role of Questions is in the structure of the grammar in Russian.

Russian questions may be either a linguistic expression used to make a request for information, or else the request itself made by such an expression. Usually it starts with why, how, where, when ...

Grammar Tips:

In Russian, like in other languages, you can have yes/no or open-ended questions.

 

Yes/no questions:

У Вас есть свободное время? – Do you have spare time?

Он идет в кино? – Is he going to the cinema?

 

You can also make a question by adding a tag question to the end of a statement.

 

У Вас есть свободное время, не правда ли? – You have free time, dont you?

Он идет в кино, да? – He is going to the cinema, isn’t he?
