Learning the Indonesian Adjectives is very important because its structure is used in every day conversation. The more you master it the more you get closer to mastering the Indonesian language. But first we need to know what the role of Adjectives is in the structure of the grammar in Indonesian.
Indonesian Adjectives are words that describe or modify another person or thing in the sentence.
While in English an adjective doesn’t change when the noun changes, in Indonesian an adjective should agree in gender and number with the noun. For example:
Masculine to feminine example:
ini adalah putra saya (this is my little son) becomes:ini adalah putri kecil saya (this is my little daughter)
As you can see from the example above, the adjective comes after the noun and also takes the feminine form.
Singular to plural example:
ini adalah kucing putihku (this is my white cat) becomes: ini adalah kucing-kucing putihku (these are my white cats).
