Haitian Alphabet
Learning the Haitian alphabet is very important because its structure is used in every day conversation. Without it, you will not be able to say words properly even if you know how to write those words. The better you pronounce a letter in a word, the more understood you will be in speaking the Haitian language.
Below is a table showing the Haitian alphabet and how it is pronounced in English, and finally examples of how those letters would sound if you place them in a word.

| en | /ɛ˜/ | ɛ˜ Like è below, but breathed through the nose |
| è | /ɛ/ | ɛ as in bed |
| f | /f/ | f as in fast |
| g | /g/ | g as in gold |
| i | /i/ | i as in need |
| j | /ʒ/ | ʒ as in measure |
| k | /k/ | k as in king |
| l | /l/ | l as in lion |
| m | /m/ | m as in moon |
| n | /n/ | n as in north |
| o | /o/ | o as in home |
| on | /õ/ | õ Like the vowel o above, but breathed through the nose |
| ou | /u/ | u as in fool. |
| ò | /ɔ/ | ɔ as in fun, but with rounded lips |
| p | /p/ | p as in pen |
| r | /ɰ/ | ɰ as in Rome. Not trilled |
| s | /s/ | s as in sleep. Never /z/ |
| t | /t/ | t as in time |
| ui | /ɥi/ | ɥi as in kiwi |
| v | /v/ | v as in vast |
| w | /w/ | w as in west |
| y | /j/ | j as in yes |
| z | /z/ | z as in zero |
