Chinese Adjectives

Learning the Chinese Adjectives displayed below is vital to the language. Chinese Adjectives are words that describe or modify another person or thing in the sentence.

An adjective in Chinese is formed by adding the character for bulls eye "de" at the end of a noun, but it can also be placed after a whole sentence making the whole sentence as a adjective, Chinese use this structure to constructed a relative sentence. Like “The man whom I saw walking in the street was my father, would be translated in Chinese as:” 我看到在路上走路的人时我的爸爸” wǒ kàn dào zài lù shàng zǒu lù de rén shí wǒ de bà bà - I see on road walking-de man is my father. Here are some examples:

Grammar Tips:

While in English an adjective doesn’t change when the noun changes, in Mandarin the same applies.  Adjectives never change, regardless of what they modify
