Learning the Catalan Negation is very important because its structure is used in every day conversation. The more you practice the subject, the closer you get to mastering the Catalan language. But first we need to know what the role of Negation is in the structure of the grammar in Catalan.
Catalan negation is the process that turns an affirmative statement (I am happy) into its opposite denial (I am not happy).
In Catalan, negation can be made simply by placing "No" before the main verb. Sometimes, when we want to slightly stress the negation, we can use the optional particule pas. Examples:
No ho puc fer (I can't do this).
No tenen res a fer (they don't have anything to do).
No m’ha agradat pas, aquesta pel·lícula (I didn’t really like this film).
